Senile depression
Senile depression (senile melancholia) strictly refers to a mental disorder whose first clinical manifestation is after the age of 60, with persistent depression as the main clinical manifestation. Mood disorders cannot be attributed to physical or cerebral organic diseases. Depression is a negative and unpleasant emotional experience, characterized by depression, crying, sadness, disappointment, decreased ability to move, and retardation of thinking and cognitive functions. Generally, the disease course is relatively long, with a tendency to remission and relapse. Some patients have a poor prognosis and can develop into refractory depression.
