Yellow ligament hypertrophy
The ligamentum flavum is not continuous, and the ligamentum flavum on both sides has a gap on the midline. It starts at the front and bottom of the upper lamina and ends at the back of the lower lamina. Hypertrophy of the ligamentum flavum may be related to chronic degeneration, trauma, inflammation, metabolic disorders and other factors. It can occur at any age, and progresses quickly and to a greater degree.
