Cracked teeth

Introduction

Introduction Dental cracks are non-physiological fine cracks on the surface of the crown and are often difficult to detect. Cracks often penetrate deep into the dentin structure and are one of the causes of toothache. The weak link of the tooth structure, the large cusp slope, and the traumatic force are the causes.

Cause

Cause

1. The weak link of the tooth structure is a susceptible factor for tooth cracking. These weak links not only have low crack resistance, but also stress-concentrated parts when the teeth are subjected to normal forces.

2. The larger the cusp slope, the greater the horizontal component force generated, and the more opportunities for cracking.

3. Traumatic force: When the pathological wear appears high and steep cusps, the cusp inclination also increases significantly. The horizontal component force generated during normal occlusion also increases, forming a traumatic force, which makes the glaze plate at the bottom of the pit and groove deepen and widen toward the dentin, which is the beginning of the cryptic crack. Under the continuation of the force, the crack gradually deepens toward the pulp, and the trauma force is the cracking factor of the tooth crack.

History

Often have chewing discomfort or occlusion pain symptoms.

2. Clinical manifestations

Most occur in double cuspids and molars, the most common first molars. A closer look reveals a dark or dark brown crack line that may traverse the face of the tooth or may only be seen at the adjacent edge. A bite on the cracked part or a painful feeling.

3. Auxiliary inspection

Cracks can be made clear with iodine or gentian violet. The cold test is more sensitive at the crack.

Diagnosis

Differential diagnosis

It can be distinguished from the gap between the teeth.

The gap between the teeth is due to the poor development of the teeth or the gap between the teeth caused by the damage of the teeth. The gap between the teeth is too large, which will directly affect the appearance of the face, and it also has certain harm to the normal diet.
