Gum pustules

Introduction

Introduction Gingival long pustules are a form of periodontal abscess that can occur in any type of periodontitis patient. It is a localized suppurative inflammation in the periodontal pocket or deep periodontal tissue that can cause damage to surrounding collagen fibers and bone. Usually an acute process, there may also be chronic periodontal abscesses. Periodontitis is a chronic infectious disease of periodontal support tissue caused by microorganisms in dental plaque, leading to inflammation and destruction of periodontal support tissues, which is the first cause of loss of teeth in adults in China. Periodontitis develops to the middle and late stages, and after a deep periodontal pocket, it can be associated with periodontal abscess.

Cause

Cause

1. The suppurative inflammation of the inner wall of the deep periodontal pocket expands to the deep connective tissue, and when the pus cannot be discharged into the bag, the abscess in the soft tissue of the wall can be formed;

2, the twists and turns of the deep periodontal pocket involving multiple tooth surfaces, the purulent exudate can not be drained smoothly, especially when the root bifurcation area is involved.

3, when scaling or scaling, the action is rough, push the calculus fragments and bacteria into the deep tissue of the periodontal pocket, or damage the gum tissue.

4. The curettage of the deep periodontal pocket is not complete, resulting in the tightening of the pocket of the periodontal pocket, but the inflammation at the bottom of the periodontal pocket still exists and no drainage is obtained.

5, the endodontic treatment of the root canal or pulp chamber, longitudinal root fracture, etc., sometimes can also cause periodontal abscess.

6, the body's resistance is reduced or there are serious systemic diseases, such as diabetes, prone to periodontal abscess. Patients with multiple or recurrent episodes of periodontal abscess should be aware of the possibility of excluding diabetes.

7. Some highly toxic periodontal pathogenic microorganisms colonize and proliferate in periodontal pockets, causing infection to spread and spread.

The diagnosis of periodontal abscess should be linked to medical history and clinical manifestations, and refer to X-ray films. Mainly should be differentiated from gingival abscess and alveolar abscess.

Diagnosis

Differential diagnosis

Gingival abscess

Gingival abscess is limited to the nipple and the gingival margin, showing a localized swelling. No history of periodontitis, no periodontal pockets and loss of attachment, X-ray films without alveolar bone resorption. Generally, there are obvious irritating factors such as foreign matter puncture into the gums. After removing foreign bodies and plaque tartar, no other treatment is needed after draining the pus.

Periodontal abscess

Periodontal abscess is a localized suppurative inflammation in the periodontal support tissue, with deep periodontal pockets and loss of attachment, and X-ray films showing alveolar bone resorption. In chronic periodontal abscesses, diffuse bone destruction around the root or root tip is also seen.
