Decreased pain threshold

Introduction

Introduction A variety of irritations that cause pain, when the stimulating intensity is very weak, does not cause pain; it only feels pain when the stimulus reaches a certain intensity. The so-called "pain threshold" refers to the minimum amount of stimulation that causes pain. For example, we fill a bottle that can hold 500ml of water. When 499ml of water is poured, the water still does not overflow. If it continues to add water, it will overflow. Under physiological conditions, people do not feel painful to the weak stimulation of the pain threshold, but when the stimulation increases to a certain extent, if the intensity is increased, it will cause pain, just like the water overflows from the bottle. Of course, the problem of pain threshold is much more complicated than bottled water.

Cause

Cause

1. The level of pain threshold varies from person to person and is influenced by many factors, such as age, gender, personality, mental state, and the nature of painful stimuli. Clinically, some pain is caused by noxious stimuli, and some stimuli are unclear.

2. When a person is weak, the bioelectric energy will decrease. If the bioelectrical energy of an organ is abnormal, the pain threshold of the relevant pathological reaction area will decrease. The "pain threshold" is an undetermined value. A healthy person has a high pain threshold, a high tolerance for pain, a pain threshold for a sick person, and a weak tolerance for pain, which becomes more sensitive.

Lower pain thresholds increase the sensitivity of people to pain, and normal stimuli, such as changes in the physiological range of the body, can also cause pain. Over time, it can cause emotional changes and disorders in the body, leading to vascular disease. The muscles continue to contract, causing vasogenic headaches and muscle tension headaches, causing pain to the patient.

Diagnosis

Differential diagnosis

Differential diagnosis of pain threshold reduction:

1, acute pain: soft tissue and joint acute pain, postoperative pain, obstetric pain, acute herpes zoster pain, gout;

2, chronic pain: soft tissue and joint strain or degenerative pain, discogenic pain, neurogenic pain;

3, intractable pain: trigeminal neuralgia, postherpetic neuralgia, disc herniation, intractable headache;

4, cancer pain: advanced tumor pain, tumor metastasis;

5, special pain categories: thrombotic vasculitis, refractory angina, idiopathic chest and abdominal pain;

6, related diseases: early retinal vascular embolism, sudden deafness, vasospasm and so on.
