Bleeding from brushing

Introduction

Introduction The phenomenon of bleeding when brushing teeth is very common, usually gingivitis, and of course, thrombocytopenia and other diseases, but often accompanied by spontaneous bleeding gums and ecchymoses.

Cause

Cause

We know that there are irritations such as plaque, tartar and soft scale on the tooth surface. If not removed in time, it will stimulate the gums and cause inflammation of the gums. When the gums are inflamed, the sulcus epithelium is damaged, the submucosal connective tissue capillary proliferation, dilatation, congestion, tissue edema and inflammatory cell infiltration, so when the gums are examined, the gums are changed from normal pale pink to deep red, and the shape is swollen. The texture is soft, and there is bleeding of the gums when the probe is used for probing, which is caused by erosion and congestion of the sulcus epithelium. In addition, patients with hypertrophic gingivitis and various periodontitis may have bleeding gums when brushing their teeth.

The symptoms of periodontitis are mainly characterized by redness and bleeding of the gums, not only bleeding when brushing teeth, but also bleeding when talking or biting hard objects. The color of the gums is dark red, and the edema is brighter. In addition, there is a periodontal pocket formed. Under normal circumstances, the gingival sulcus adheres to the teeth only to a depth of zero to two millimeters, and more than two millimeters is a periodontal pocket. The formation of periodontal pockets indicates that inflammation has progressed from the gingiva to the periodontal support tissue, causing deeper periodontal tissue infection, chronic destruction, and purulent secretions to escape from the periodontal pocket. Early periodontitis teeth are not loose, only when the chronic destructive inflammation develops to a certain extent, and the periodontal tissue support force is greatly weakened, the teeth can be loosened. Gingival recession is also one of the symptoms of periodontitis, but patients are often not noticeable. Periodontitis caused by local factors, due to the compression of a large number of calculus for a long time, stimulates the gums, so the shape of the gingival margin appears horizontal retraction. As for senile periodontal tissue retraction, it is generally a physiological condition. On the one hand, the periodontal tissue itself is retracted; on the other hand, the teeth continue to erupt due to the abrasion of the teeth, and the root surface is exposed. Due to the exposure of the root surface, it is sensitive to cold, heat, sweetness, sour food or mechanical stimuli. But there are also physiological and pathological factors that exist simultaneously.

Diagnosis

Differential diagnosis

It should be differentiated from gingival bleeding: Gingival bleeding is one of the common symptoms in dentistry. In general, gum bleeding is common in the early stages of periodontitis - gingivitis. Gum bleeding does not only occur in dental diseases, it also occurs in other diseases of the body, which may indicate other system diseases, such as leukemia, exposure to radioactive radiation, autoimmune diseases, etc. In recent years, periodontal disease and The relationship between diabetes is increasingly recognized by the medical community.
