Asymmetric tonic neck reflex

Introduction

Introduction The torsional neck reflex posture is a change in the muscle tension and eye position of the extremities when the position of the head changes. It is divided into a symmetric tension neck reflex posture and an asymmetrical tension neck reflex posture. The asymmetry tension neck reflex posture appears in the newborn about 1 week after birth, and it has an advantage in 2 to 3 months. It is gradually lost by the control of the upper center, and it is abnormal if it persists for 3 months after birth. Caused by baby cerebral palsy. Pediatric cerebral palsy is an dyskinesia and postural abnormality caused by various brain damage or developmental defects caused by various causes within one month after birth.

Asymmetric tension neck reflex is when the baby rotates the head in the supine position, the tension of the extensor muscles on the upper and lower limbs of the face is increased to the extension position, the tension of the posterior anterior flexor is enhanced, and the upper and lower limbs are flexed. There was still an abnormality after 3 months.

Diagnosis

Differential diagnosis

1. Symmetrical neck reflex is when the baby is supine in the supine position, the upper limbs are flexed and the lower limbs are stretched; when the back is up, the upper limbs are stretched and the lower limbs are flexed. It is abnormal after 6 months.

2. Tension and labyrinth reflex: When the head position changes and the direction of gravity changes, the muscle tension of the limbs and trunk is reflected. The reflex exhibits full flexion tension in the prone position and the full reclining ability in the supine position. Positive baby positive reflexes lasted for about 4 months, and abnormalities persisted after 4 months.
