Comparison of furosemide alone or captopril alone showed that fluid retention often occurred in patients with heart failure treated with captopril, but not with diuretics. Patients included in the multicenter trial were symptomatic. And fluid retention is fully controlled, with a single diuretic to treat patients with heart failure that cannot be clinically stable for long periods of time, and the combination of diuretics and angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor (ACEI) reduces the chance of clinical decompensation. Therefore, diuretics are indispensable drugs for heart failure treatment.

Diuretic monotherapy and combination therapy
1. Monotherapy: According to the general recommended dose, the antihypertensive drugs of various types of antihypertensive drugs are generally similar. Typically, the mean systolic blood pressure is 160/95 mm Hg compared to placebo, and usually monotherapy reduces systolic blood pressure by 7-13 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure by 4-8 mmHg.
2. Combination therapy: There are 6 types of antihypertensive drugs available, and any combination of 2 or more drugs can reduce the blood pressure more than any single drug. The HOT trial proved that the combination was very effective. The combination of drugs to increase the antihypertensive effect is about 2 times larger than that of monotherapy. That is, patients with blood pressure of 160/95 mmHg can reduce blood pressure by 8-15% if the combination is used, that is, the systolic blood pressure drops by 12-22 mmHg and the diastolic blood pressure drops by 8-12 mmHg.
3. In combination with diuretics, effective drugs, diuretics + beta blockers, diuretics + ACEI or ATIIRA, through urine tests and blood tests.
