Fecal pH

Normal human feces are almost neutral or weakly acidic or weakly alkaline. Generally, it is alkaline after eating meat, and it is acidic when it is eaten with sugar and fat. It is strongly acidic when abnormally fermented; it is strongly alkaline when it is highly corrosive. Diet also has a certain effect on the acid-base reaction of feces. For example, the chemical determination of eggs is alkaline food, but the metabolism in the body after eating is acidic. In pathological manifestations, bacterial dysentery faeces are alkaline (pH 8.0), amoebic dysentery is acidic (pH 6.1 to 6.6), and schistosomiasis faeces are alkaline. Basic Information Specialist classification: Digestive examination classification: feces / parasitic examination Applicable gender: whether men and women apply fasting: not fasting Reminder: The specimen is non-polluting, there is no urine in the feces, and the ingredients are mixed in order to avoid destroying various components in the feces. Normal value Neutral, weakly acidic or weakly alkaline (pH 6.9 to 7.2). Clinical significance (1) It is alkaline after eating more meat, and it is strongly alkaline when it is highly corrosive. (2) It is acidic when it is sugary and fat, and it is strongly acidic when it is abnormally fermented. (3) Bacterial dysentery, schistosomiasis feces are alkaline, pH about 8.0. (4) Feces in the amoebic dysentery and viral enteritis are often acidic, pH 6.1 ~ 6.6. Low results may be diseases: viral enteritis, amoebic dysentery results may be high disease: bacterial dysentery, schistosomiasis precautions Preparation before inspection: (1) The specimen is non-polluting, and there is no urine or drug ingredients in the feces to avoid destroying various components in the feces. (2) Timely testing, generally requires testing within 1 hour after defecation collection to avoid degradation and destruction of various components of feces by digestive enzymes. Note when checking: Pay attention to the time and humidity of the collection. Not suitable for people: There is no inappropriate crowd. Inspection process After the feces were dissolved, the supernatant suspension was taken and measured with a pH test paper. The pH is then checked against the color chart. Not suitable for the crowd No taboos. Adverse reactions and risks This check will not cause complications or harm.
