The mandibular movement examination examines the forward movement of the mandible, the open jaw movement and the lateral movement, and checks whether the joint function is normal, whether there is pain, popping or murmur. Whether the opening degree and the opening type are normal, whether the joint lock phenomenon occurs during the opening and closing movement; observe the time, nature, frequency and loudness of the occurrence of the sounding; whether the joint motion of both sides is consistent and there is no skew. Clinical significance Abnormal result There are obstacles in the jaw movement, extensional movement and lateral movement of the mandibular jaw, indicating that the joint function is abnormal, there is pain, squeaking or murmur, the joint motion of both sides is inconsistent, skewed, and the opening is restricted. Inspection process (1) Whether the opening degree and the opening type are normal, and whether the joint motions on both sides are consistent. The degree of opening refers to the distance between the cutting edges of the upper and lower central incisors when the patient opens a large mouth. It can be measured with a double foot gauge or a vernier scale. (2) Bounce and noise: Whether there is joint bounce and noise, the time, nature, frequency and loudness of the ringing; whether there is a lock when moving in the opening and closing.
